Obverse description Bare-headed and draped bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, with curly hair and short beard rendered in the Antonine portrait style. The imperial titulature legend runs around the obverse field in Greek characters. The portrait exhibits the characteristic physiognomy associated with Commodus's coinage from eastern provincial mints, with a slightly idealized treatment of the facial features. Traces of drapery are visible at the truncation of the bust.
