Synnada, a Phrygian city best known in antiquity as the source of the prized *marmor Synnadicum* — the white-veined purple marble that Roman emperors imported at enormous expense for palace floors and bath complexes — produced civic bronze coinage under named local magistrates, here the prytanis Claudius Attalus.
