The basket is flanked by a poppy head to one side and ears of grain to the other, emphasizing the city's fertile and religious character. A multi-line Greek inscription in the lower field and a circular legend around the periphery identify the magistrate and the city's neocorate status. The composition is characteristic of Sardian civic bronze issues of the Severan and post-Severan periods. |
