| 表面の説明 | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Macrinus facing right, depicted in three-quarter view from the front, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the characteristic provincial style of the Ephesian mint. A Greek legend encircles the bust in the field, reading clockwise along the periphery. |

Macrinus held power for just fourteen months before his defeat at the Battle of Antioch in 218 AD — one of the shortest reigns of any emperor who died outside Rome. Provincial mints like Ephesus had barely enough time to establish a coherent coinage in his name, making civic bronzes of this type genuinely scarce against the broader backdrop of third-century provincial output. The ΑΝΔΡΟΚΛΟϹ inscription identifies the strategos responsible for the issue, a magistrate eponym whose term coincided almost exactly with the entirety of Macrinus's reign.
