To her side stands the emperor in military dress, his head turned to the left, holding a long sceptre in one hand and a patera extended over a lighted altar with the other. The scene reflects the syncretic cult of Artemis Anaïtis as practiced at Hypaepa, one of the principal centres of her worship in Lydia. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, names the two local magistrates responsible for the issue. |
