| Beschrijving keerzijde | The lunar deity Mên Kamareites depicted standing, facing, with head turned to the left and wearing the distinctive Phrygian cap. He holds a patera in one hand and a long sceptre in the other; a crescent appears behind his shoulders, the emblematic attribute of this Anatolian moon god. The reverse legend ΚΑΜΑΡΕΙΤΗϹ ΝΥϹΑΕΩΝ in Greek script identifies the deity's epithet and the issuing city. The composition is characteristic of the civic bronze coinage of Nysa in Lydia, honouring a locally venerated cult of Mên. |
