A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait, reading ΕΡΕΝ ΕΤΡΟΥϹΚΙΛΛΑ ϹΕΒ, identifying the empress as Augusta. The coin shows typical hammered flan characteristics with slightly irregular edges. |

| Description du revers | The iconic xoanon-type cult statue of Artemis Ephesia stands facing, rendered frontally in the hieratic tradition associated with her great sanctuary at Ephesus. The goddess wears the characteristic kalathos (cylindrical crown) atop her head and is depicted in the multi-breasted form with lateral supports flanked by stags on either side. A star appears in the left field and a crescent in the right field, both celestial symbols associated with the goddess. The reverse legend ΑΡΤΕΜΙϹ ΕΦΕϹΙΑ identifies the deity, emphasizing the civic pride of Ephesus as the preeminent center of her cult. |
