| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius facing right, portrayed with the bust seen from the rear in the three-quarter perspective typical of later Roman provincial coinage. The imperial effigy displays a radiate or laurel wreath crown, segmented body armour with visible pauldron, and a draped paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads in the outer field, naming the emperor by his full titulature. The portrait is rendered in the robust, slightly stylised manner characteristic of the Ephesian civic mint during the mid-third century AD. |
