| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, seen from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the typical provincial style of the Conventus of Smyrna. The obverse legend, disposed around the bust, reads Α Κ Μ ΑΥΡ ϹΕ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature in Greek. The portrait reflects the official Severan iconography adapted for civic bronze coinage of Phocaea. |
