Reverse description Dionysus, the god of wine, stands facing left in a relaxed contrapposto pose, his body partially draped. He extends his right hand to offer a cantharus (deep wine cup) and holds a long thyrsus staff in his left hand. At his feet to the left crouches a panther, the traditional companion of the deity, gazing upward. The composition is rendered in the characteristic style of Mysian provincial bronzes, with the civic magistrate legend arranged around the field.

Additional information

Germe was a minor Mysian city whose civic coinage under Gordian III was administered by a local magistrate — the ΕΠΙ Γ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΔΟΥ formula names Apollonides as the presiding official, a practice common in the Pergamene conventus where civic authorities retained meaningful control over bronze production. The city struck relatively few types across the third century, making the survival of magistrate-attributed pieces useful for reconstructing the local administrative sequence.
