The figure holds a pedum (shepherd's crook) in the left hand, a common attribute in Dionysiac iconography. The encircling Greek legend distributed around the field proudly proclaims Nicomedia's twice-granted neocorate status. The composition is rendered in the characteristic flat relief of eastern provincial bronzes of the Severan era. |
