| Beschrijving voorzijde | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Volusian facing right, portrayed from behind, with the radiate crown clearly visible above the head. The emperor's paludamentum (military cloak) and cuirass are rendered in relief, conveying an imperial military character typical of mid-third-century provincial bronze coinage. The encircling Greek legend runs around the periphery of the field. The portrait style is consistent with the provincial workshops of the Phrygian conventus, displaying characteristic heavy modelling and bold relief. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The eponymous hero Akmôn is depicted at full gallop to the right, his chlamys billowing dramatically behind him as he brandishes a whip, embodying the city's mythological founder. In the background rises the sacred Dindymos hill, upon which two Oreiad nymphs stand in attendance. At the base of the hill, a reclining river god is shown to the right, a standard personification of the local waterway associated with the city's geography. The ethnic legend ΑΚΜΟΝΕΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing civic authority. The composition is a rare and elaborate mythological scene characteristic of the ambitious reverse types struck by Phrygian cities under the Severan and later dynasties. |
