| Opis rewersu | Cybele, the Phrygian mother goddess, enthroned and facing left upon a high-backed throne, her right hand extending a patera and her left arm resting upon a tympanum (frame drum) set beside her. A lion is placed flanking each side of the throne, serving as her sacred attendants and reinforcing her identity as Mater Magna. The composition is characteristic of Anatolian provincial coinage honouring local and regional cults. The multi-line Greek legend in the field names the presiding strategos Aurelius Theon and the civic authority of Metropolis. |
