Bruzus was a minor Phrygian settlement whose civic coinage under Hadrian depended entirely on the authority of named local magistrates — here Rufinus Drymikos, whose name appears in the genitive as issuing authority. The inclusion of both a Roman name and a Greek cognate in the same magistrate's titulature reflects the layered identity of provincial elites in the Apamean conventus during this period. These small civic bronzes circulated hyperlocally and rarely traveled far from their issuing community, which explains why surviving specimens tend to show heavy provincial wear.
