| Obverse description | Bare-headed, diademed bust of the youthful hero Kyzikos facing right, with finely rendered curling hair and a diadem across the forehead. The portrait is executed in the Hellenistic tradition, presenting an idealized, youthful male effigy with a bare neck and softly modelled facial features. The legend ΚΥΖΙΚΟϹ appears in the field, identifying the eponymous founder-hero of the city. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with provincial hammered coinage of the Antonine period. |
