| Reverse description | The reverse is entirely epigraphic, featuring the Greek inscription of the Koinon of Cyprus arranged in two or three lines within the central field, surrounded by the proconsular legend disposed around the periphery. The lettering names the proconsul Cominius Proclus and identifies the issuing authority as the Cypriots. The bold, deeply cut Greek characters fill the flan and are characteristic of provincial civic coinage struck under Roman authority. The absence of figurative imagery reflects the purely honorific and administrative nature of this Cypriot provincial issue. |
