| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two tall torches set upright side by side, each entwined by a serpent coiling upward around the shaft, a type closely associated with the mystery cults of Cyzicus and symbolic of the city's neokorate status. The devices are rendered within the field of the flan, with the encircling Greek legend ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ ΝΕΟΚΟΡ(ΩΝ) identifying the issuing city and proclaiming its honorific title of neokoros, or temple-warden. A dotted border frames the design along the inner edge of the flan. The reverse exhibits the typical characteristics of Mysian provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period. |
