| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Bithynian civic coinage. The portrait displays the characteristic features of the emperor with a laurel wreath encircling the head. A circular legend in Greek characters surrounds the effigy, reading Μ ΑΥ ΚοΜ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝοϹ. A countermark is visible in the lower right field of the coin. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show significant wear consistent with extended circulation. |

| Reverse description | Turreted Tyche, the personification of the city's fortune, seated to the right upon a throne, holding a long sceptre in her left hand and a figure of Nike (Victory) in her extended right hand. Her foot rests upon a swimming river-god below, symbolising the city's relationship with local waterways. The reverse type is a common civic device for Nicaean bronze coinage of the Antonine period. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing city. |
