In the exergue, a river god swims left, personifying the local waterway associated with Carrhae. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, records the colonial and metropolitan status of Carrhae within Mesopotamia, with the final letter Λ remaining of uncertain interpretation. The composition reflects standard iconographic conventions of Mesopotamian provincial coinage under the Severan dynasty. |
