| 裏面の説明 | Zeus Lydios, the principal civic deity of Sardis, depicted standing in full figure facing left, draped and wearing a polos or divine headdress. In his outstretched right hand he holds an eagle, the bird of Jupiter, while his left hand rests upon a tall sceptre. The figure is rendered in the standard Hellenistic divine type, positioned centrally within the field, with the encircling Greek legend proclaiming the double neocorate status of the city of Sardis within a beaded border. |

Sardis held the title of neokoros — temple warden of the imperial cult — twice over by the Severan period, a distinction fiercely competed among cities of the Asian conventus and reflected in the ΔΙϹ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ legend. The second neokorate at Sardis was granted under Caracalla, though coins invoking the title appear already under Septimius, likely in anticipation or as a retrospective civic boast.
