This imagery is strongly associated with the cult of Demeter and Kore (Persephone) and reflects Cyzicus's status as a neokoros city honoring the imperial cult. The Greek legend ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ ('of the Cyzicenes, temple-wardens') runs around the periphery of the reverse field. |
