| Beschrijving keerzijde | The river god Gallos, the eponymous deity of the local river, depicted as a reclining male figure turned to the left, his semi-draped body supported on his left arm. In his right hand he holds a cornucopia, symbolic of abundance, while in his left he grasps a reed. He reclines against or rests upon an overturned vase or urn from which water streams, a standard iconographic convention for river deities in Greco-Roman provincial coinage. The Greek legend naming the city, magistrate, and river god encircles the design. |
