| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Severus Alexander facing right, with the emperor's youthful features rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Phrygian civic coinage. The laureate wreath is clearly visible atop the head, and the bust is truncated at the shoulder with drapery folds indicated at the lower edge. In his right hand he holds a cornucopia, symbolic of abundance, while in his left he grasps a reed. He reclines against or rests upon an overturned vase or urn from which water streams, a standard iconographic convention for river deities in Greco-Roman provincial coinage.
