Acmonea was a Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Severus Alexander reflects the relatively autonomous minting privileges extended to communities within the Apamean conventus — the judicial assize district through which Rome administered the region. These provincial bronzes were struck not by imperial authority but by local magistrates, whose names sometimes appear on the coins and represent the only surviving record of their tenure.
The reference VI#5586 places this within Voegtli's corpus of Acmonean issues, a series that remains incompletely studied compared to the more prolific neighbors in the conventus.
