Obverse description Full-length figure of Emperor Nero standing to right, depicted in the guise of Apollo Citharoedus, draped and holding a lyre, the imperial identification assimilating the emperor to the god of music and arts. The surrounding field carries the Greek dedicatory legend ΝΕΡΩΝΙ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙ ΚΤΙϹΤΗ, identifying Nero as Apollo and founder (ktistes) of the city. The die is crudely engraved in the provincial style typical of Epirote civic issues of the Julio-Claudian period.

Reverse description Nike, the winged goddess of victory, standing to the left, draped, her wings spread behind her, holding a wreath extended in her right hand. The figure is rendered in a simple provincial style consistent with civic bronze coinage of Nicopolis under Nero. The abbreviated Greek legend ΝΕΡΩΝΟΣ appears in the field, attributing the type to Nero in the genitive case. A dotted border frames the design on the irregular flan.
