| Beschrijving keerzijde | Harpocrates, the Egyptian child-god of silence and secrets, stands facing with head turned to the left, raising the index finger of his right hand to his lips in his canonical gesture of silence. In his left hand he holds a hawk-tipped club, an attribute associating him with Horus. A ram stands behind the deity, serving as an additional divine attribute. The date regnal formula L ΙΔ appears in the field, marking this issue to Year 14 of Hadrian's reign. The reverse composition is typical of the syncretic religious iconography favoured on Alexandrian provincial bronzes. |
