The portrait displays the emperor's characteristic features with a laurel wreath crown. A Greek legend surrounds the effigy along the border of the flan, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The bust is rendered in the provincial style typical of Flavian-era Egyptian coinage. The Greek date legend is placed in the field, recording the regnal year of issue. The reverse fabric is irregular and somewhat flat, consistent with the hammered technique of Alexandrian bronze coinage. |
