Argos maintained active civic bronze coinage through much of the Antonine period, a prerogative granted selectively by Rome to cities with sufficient administrative standing. The city's claim to antiquity — and its mythology surrounding the Argive Heraion — gave local magistrates unusual latitude in choosing reverse types that looked inward toward Greek tradition rather than toward imperial flattery.
The reference IV.1#7928 places this piece within the RPC IV.1 online corpus, where Argive bronzes of this reign remain incompletely die-linked due to specimen scarcity in major collections.
