Beschrijving voorzijde Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Geta as Caesar facing right, depicted from the rear in three-quarter perspective, a characteristic provincial rendering of the imperial effigy. The portrait is rendered in the typical style of Severan-era provincial bronzes, with drapery and cuirass details visible at the truncation. The encircling Greek legend reads Λ ϹΕΠ ΓΕΤΑϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ, identifying the subject as Lucius Septimius Geta in his capacity as Caesar.

Aanvullende informatie

Methymna occupied the northern coast of Lesbos and struck bronze provincials under Septimius Severus as part of the Conventus of Adramyteum — the administrative circuit through which Roman judicial and fiscal authority was organized across the northeastern Aegean. The city's coinage under Severus is notably scarce; Methymna was never a prolific mint, and the full reign span of 193–211 likely accounts for only a handful of recognized die pairings in the series.
