| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Geta as Caesar facing right, depicted from the rear in three-quarter perspective, a characteristic provincial rendering of the imperial effigy. Methymna occupied the northern coast of Lesbos and struck bronze provincials under Septimius Severus as part of the Conventus of Adramyteum — the administrative circuit through which Roman judicial and fiscal authority was organized across the northeastern Aegean. The city's coinage under Severus is notably scarce; Methymna was never a prolific mint, and the full reign span of 193–211 likely accounts for only a handful of recognized die pairings in the series.
