| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus Caesar facing right, seen from the front, with short curly hair rendered in fine detail. The portrait presents the youthful features of Gaius Julius Verus Maximus in the manner typical of Bithynian provincial coinage of the Severan period. The Greek legend encircles the bust within the coin field, identifying the subject by his full imperial titulature. |

| Reverse description | Helios (?) standing nude, facing front with head turned to the right, wearing a radiate crown and chlamys draped over one shoulder, holding a sceptre in one hand and ears of grain (?) in the other. Behind the figure, an eagle flies to the left with its head turned right, positioned above an altar around which a serpent is coiled. The composition reflects the syncretic religious iconography common in Bithynian civic coinage, combining solar and chthonic symbolism. The encircling Greek legend proclaims the twice-neocorate status of the city of Nicomedia. |
