The portrait conveys the emperor's characteristic powerful physiognomy, with closely cropped hair beneath the laurel wreath and the folds of the paludamentum visible over the cuirass. The encircling Greek legend runs along the rim of the flan. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-struck provincial mint production. |

The figure occupies the central field, with the civic legend of Nicaea distributed around the periphery of the flan. The style is consistent with the Bithynian provincial workshop output of the Severan and post-Severan era. |
