| 裏面の説明 | Homonoia type reverse depicting two fish traps or wicker basket-like objects placed symmetrically on either side of a central lighted altar with flames rising from its top, alluding to the commercial and civic concord between the cities of Nicaea and Byzantium. The composition is rendered in a provincial style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage of the mid-third century. The encircling Greek legend references both civic communities and their union. The overall type is a rare alliance (homonoia) issue struck to celebrate the concordia between Nicaea and Byzantium. |
