| Obverse description | Draped bust of the personified Roman Senate (ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ) facing right, with radiate or wreathed head rendered in the Hellenistic provincial style. The effigy displays flowing locks and a draped paludamentum at the shoulder, with the legend distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is boldly struck in high relief, characteristic of Phrygo-Lydian civic bronze coinage of the Severan period. |

| Reverse description | Hades, helmeted and draped, driving a quadriga at full gallop to the right, his head turned back to the left, holding the reins in one hand and the abducted Persephone in his other arm. A wheel is visible in the lower left field, and the four horses are rendered in vigorous motion. The scene depicts the mythological Rape of Persephone, a subject of particular religious significance at Hierapolis in Phrygia. The Greek legend encircles the design within a beaded border. |
