The figure is rendered in the conventional Hellenistic iconographic tradition common to Pontic civic bronzes of the mid-third century AD. The Greek legend ΑΜΙϹΟΥ ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΑϹ appears in the field, asserting the autonomous status of the city of Amisus. The reverse surface exhibits significant wear and encrustation. |
