The figure is rendered in the tradition of provincial Greek civic types honoring the city's illustrious literary heritage. The reverse legend, disposed around the type in two lines or in the field, records the name of the local magistrate and the civic ethnic. The composition is typical of Teian bronze coinage of the Severan and subsequent periods. |
