| Obverse description | Draped bust of Faustina II facing right, with hair elaborately arranged and coiffed in the Antonine fashion. The effigy is rendered in moderate relief, typical of provincial bronze coinage of the period. Sinope, a Roman colony on the Black Sea coast, retained its colonial status and distinctive CCI (or variant) colony numbering well into the imperial period — the date formula encoded in the reverse legend tracks the city's own colonial reckoning, not the imperial calendar, making these bronzes unusually precise chronological documents for a provincial issue. The CCIIII figure places this piece in a tight window of Marcus Aurelius's reign, before the full weight of the Marcomannic Wars redirected resources and attention away from Pontic civic life.
