The magistrate name rendered as ΡΟΥΦΟΣ (Rufus) on this issue is a Latinized cognomen thoroughly absorbed into Greek provincial administrative use by the Antonine period — its appearance here places the coin within a narrow window of Aurelius's co-rule with Lucius Verus and the early sole reign, years dominated by the Parthian war and the catastrophic Antonine Plague spreading westward from returning legions.
