| Descripción del anverso | Radiate and draped bust of Apollo Lairbenos facing right, depicted with characteristic radiate crown, the drapery falling over the left shoulder. The bust is rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Phrygian civic coinage of the Severan period. The Greek legend ΛΑΙΡΒΗΝΟϹ appears in the field, identifying the deity as the local syncretic god Apollo Lairbenos, a pre-eminent tutelary divinity of Hierapolis in Phrygia. The flan is irregular and shows a substantial chip, consistent with the hammered production technique of the period. |

The composition closely echoes the canonical Lupa Romana type and underscores Hierapolis's claim to Roman neocorate status. The encircling Greek legend ΙΕΡΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ runs around the periphery, proclaiming the city's prestigious temple-warden title. The reverse type, combining Roman mythological imagery with a Greek civic legend, is characteristic of the honorific coinage issued by neocorate cities of Asia Minor under Elagabalus. |
