Reverse description Apollo Sauroctonos (lizard-slayer) depicted nude, standing and turned to the right, extending his right hand forward holding a bow and resting his left arm upon a slender tree trunk or sapling. The type closely follows the celebrated Praxitelean sculptural prototype. The civic legend ΠΡΟΥϹΑΕωΝ, identifying the issuing city of Prusa ad Olympum, is inscribed in the field. The reverse strike shares the irregular and somewhat worn character typical of provincial Bithynian bronze coinage of the Commodan period.
