The type closely follows the celebrated Praxitelean sculptural prototype. The civic legend ΠΡΟΥϹΑΕωΝ, identifying the issuing city of Prusa ad Olympum, is inscribed in the field. The reverse strike shares the irregular and somewhat worn character typical of provincial Bithynian bronze coinage of the Commodan period. |
