| 背面描述 | The cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus (Ephesia) depicted standing, facing, in the rigid frontal hieratic pose characteristic of her xoanon type. The goddess wears a tall kalathos (polos) atop her head and is adorned with the characteristic multiple rows of pendants or ova across the chest. Lateral supports flank the figure on either side, as is typical of representations of this cult image on provincial bronzes. The Greek legend ΕΠΙΜ Μ ΑΙΛ ΑΠΟΛΛΙΝΑΡΙΟΥ, naming the local magistrate (epimeletes) Marcus Aelius Apollinarios responsible for the issue, is distributed around the field. |
