| Beschrijving keerzijde | Dionysus, the god of wine, depicted standing to the left in a relaxed contrapposto stance, holding a patera in his extended right hand and a thyrsus — the fennel-staff entwined with ivy and topped with a pine cone — in his left. A small lighted altar is placed at his feet, referencing ritual sacrifice and cult worship. The composition is typical of provincial Dionysiac reverse types prevalent in the Carian conventus during the Severan and Gordian periods. The ethnic legend ΝΕΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ encircles the reverse field. |
