The obverse legend encircles the bust, identifying the young Caesar by name. The legend includes a retrograde sigma, indicative of the local engraver's workshop practice. The flan is irregular and the strike slightly off-center, consistent with hand-hammered provincial bronzes of the early third century AD. |
