| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central device of a cornucopia set upright within a wreath of laurel or olive leaves tied at the base, flanked in the left field by a pendant bunch of grapes. The Greek civic legend ΟΔΗΣΙΤ is divided across the field in two lines on either side of the cornucopia, reading Ο-ΔΗ to the left and Σ-ΙΤ to the right, abbreviating the city ethnic ΟΔΗΣΙΤΩΝ (of the Odessitans). The composition is bold and schematic, typical of the autonomous or semi-autonomous civic bronze issues of Odessos under the Flavian emperors. |

Odessos, the Black Sea Greek colony on the Moesian coast, struck autonomous bronze issues under the Flavians with a degree of civic independence that imperial mints did not share. The split ethnic legend — a local idiosyncrasy in die arrangement — appears inconsistently across the Domitianic series, suggesting small-batch production from a civic workshop rather than a coordinated imperial program.
