The Greek civic legend ΟΔΗΣΙΤ is divided across the field in two lines on either side of the cornucopia, reading Ο-ΔΗ to the left and Σ-ΙΤ to the right, abbreviating the city ethnic ΟΔΗΣΙΤΩΝ (of the Odessitans). The composition is bold and schematic, typical of the autonomous or semi-autonomous civic bronze issues of Odessos under the Flavian emperors. |
