| 背面描述 | Frontal cult statue of Apollo Didymeus standing, depicted in the characteristic archaic xoanon style associated with the great sanctuary at Didyma. The deity holds a stag in one outstretched hand and a bow in the other. The encircling Greek legend ΜΙΛΗΣΙΩΝ ΔΙΔΥΜΕΥΣ identifies both the issuing city and the divine epithet, and is distributed around the field within a beaded border. |

Miletus had long maintained the sanctuary at Didyma — one of the largest temples in the ancient world, dedicated to Apollo and administered by the city throughout the imperial period. The epithet ΔΙΔΥΜΕΥΣ on this issue reflects Miletus's insistence on advertising that cultic relationship on its civic coinage, a claim to religious prestige the city leveraged aggressively even as its commercial dominance over the Aegean had faded centuries earlier.
