The legend ΘΕΟΣ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Divine Augustus) is disposed around the effigy in Greek characters, conferring posthumous divine status upon the emperor. A branch symbol appears below the portrait in the lower field, serving as a mint or engraver mark. The flan is irregular and the strike moderately worn, typical of bronze civic issues from Amisus of this period. |
