Acmonea was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Septimius Severus named the local magistrate Flavius Priscus as grammateus — a civic secretary whose office carried enough prestige to appear on the die. Provincial bronze of this weight from interior Anatolia circulated hyperlocally; it is unlikely this piece ever traveled more than a few days' journey from the mint city.
