| Obverse description | Jugate draped busts of Nero and Agrippina II facing right, with Nero in the foreground and Agrippina II behind, both portraits rendered in the Provincial Greek style typical of Carian civic coinage. The obverse legend ΝΕΡΩΝ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΟϹ is disposed around the periphery. The coin exhibits heavy patination and surface encrustation consistent with its age, rendering fine details of the portraiture difficult to distinguish. The jugate arrangement of the two busts reflects the period of Nero's co-regency with his mother before her murder in AD 59, thereby providing a useful terminus ante quem for the issue. |
